Press Release – Nov 2019
LEICESTER’S GOT TALENT 2019 – 1 WEEK TO GO UNTIL ENTRIES CLOSE
Last chance to enter Leicester’s Got Talent 2019! Entries will close on Friday 15th November. Nominations for Leicester’s Got Talent are currently open via www.leicestersgottalent.com.
The show-stopping talent competition is back for its eighth year on Saturday 30th November at the Y Theatre. The winning prize is an iPad and £200 worth of vouchers for the overall winner.
Last year’s family event saw a diverse range of gifted 8-25 year olds take to the stage, but it was opera singer Lauren Rose who won over the judges with her rendition of ‘Love Never Dies’ from Andrew Lloyd Webber’s musical, The Phantom of the Opera.
Leicester’s Got Talent has also seen some of its winners go on to further success. Singer-songwriter Eva Rose, who won in 2017, made it to the finals of CBBC’s talent series ‘Got What It Takes’, and Messiah Unsudimi who also won in 2017 in the dance category, went on to make his West End debut as the young Michael Jackson in ‘Thriller’.
Event director, Romail Gulzar, said: “The city and county is filled with great talent, and year after we’ve seen the competition get better and better. It’s brilliant to see so many confident individuals take to the stage each year, and it’s incredibly rewarding to be able to be able to give them a platform to shine. I’m very excited to see what 2019 has in-store.”
This year’s supporters include Sans, Leicestershire Police, Royal Airforce, Bond Adams Solicitors and Crimestoppers. Official media partners include BBC Radio Leicester, Pukaar News and Pukaar Magazine.
Simon Cole, Chief Constable of Leicestershire Police said: “I’m delighted to open this event which is now in its eighth year celebrating the very best of what Leicester has to offer. Crimestoppers are an important ally helping communities and the police tackle crime together. This event puts their work, as well the city’s talented young people, in the spotlight.”
The not-for-profit event was created to give a platform to the young people of Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland to showcase their talent and to bring the community together to enjoy the performances.
